The piece showcases the warm, reddish-brown tones and subtle grain figure of mature cherry wood, gently deepened by a hand-applied finish of walnut oil and beeswax. The finish enhances the wood’s natural lustre while providing a food-safe, low-sheen protection that’s easy to renew with periodic oiling.

Walnut oil & beeswax finish, particularly when cured (hardened), is generally considered low-risk for nut allergy sufferers. While raw or unrefined oil might contain trace proteins, the polymerization process reduces the risk of allergic reactions. However, individuals with severe allergies should avoid it, as reactions to food-contact surfaces are still possible. Risk Level: Once walnut oil cures and hardens on wood, the proteins responsible for allergic reactions become inactive.
